SHOCK and AWE Productions has been apart of over 3500 live events in the 15+ years we’ve been in business, and have developed an ability to design the look most needed for any size stage and event type. In this example, we have incorporated flown trussing with moving heads, fixed pars and crowd blinders, with other fixtures mounted off the stage deck. Having overhead is important, and you should utilize whatever the venue offers, to the design of the lighting rig.
In this example, we had no ceiling height or feasible rig points, so we opted with the vertical trusses at each corner of the stage. This is a viable technique when no horizontal trussing can be utilized, or when the budget will not support that particular style of lighting support. The vertical trussing can also be used for front lighting from the sides, and backlighting from the 2 remaining upstage trusses. Perfect for those small rooms, and when front lighting isn’t 100% necessary.
When a performance is held outside, It is nice to have a mobile stage to not only simplify setup, but accommodate your lighting fixtures as well. Most mobile stage have roof truss upstage and downstage that will carry the weight of most simple lighting packages. In this example we have LED front lights with crowd blinders, and some LED pars upstage for wash. The rest is ground supported off the stage deck. ADd some haze and fog machines, and you have an amazing lighting show to fit the stage!
